Criminal Justice in Louisiana

by Burk Foster, Paula Broussard, Christopher De Lay

Book Summary
Crime and punishment in Louisiana's colorful history.

Book Synopsis
The fourth edition of Criminal Justice in Louisiana concentrates on the problems in crime today and highlights popular crimes of the past. Several of the articles in this book deal with the problems of violent crimes as well as pieces that touch on how life in high-crime neighborhoods is affected by violence, fear, and sadness. The other crime-related concerns in Louisiana, drugs and gambling, are also included in two of the articles. The book opens with two articles, "A Louisiana Steel Trap," and "The Hennessy Affair," chosen to remind us that crime has been a part of Louisiana's past, and America's past, from the very beginning. Although this book is typically used in a classroom setting, it is great reading material for anyone interested in the criminal justice aspect of Louisiana.
