Lynda Frese is a visual artist based in South Louisiana, and Professor Emerita at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Originally from New England, she earned her BFA (1978) and MFA (1986) degrees from the University of California at Davis. She received a 1982 SECA Award and exhibition at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art for her unique gelatin silver prints. She was a fellow at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1985, followed by a group exhibition at Leo Castelli Gallery in NYC.
Frese maintains a studio in Breaux Bridge, and is a frequent traveler in the US, Latin America and Europe. Frese has been a fellow at the Rockefeller Bellagio Foundation, and at the Bogliasco Foundation, and artist-in-residence at the American Academy in Rome, Italy. Other residencies include stays in Cuidad Colon, Costa Rica, ArtStudio Ginestrelle in Assisi, and RUC (Rural Residency for Contemporary Art) in Valcamonica, Italy.
