L’il Red in the Great White North
by Zachary Richard with Illustration by Sarah Lattés
In this second installment of The Adventures of L’il Red and Hopewell Green series, the Louisiana duo find themselves transported to the Great White North (Canada), where they find an array of new friends and adventures.
From the Author: In 1997, I returned to Québec after an absence of nearly fifteen years. Deeply inspired by the culture of what became my second homeland, I wrote this sto- ry in one fell swoop in the winter of 1998. It is no surprise that this fable begins in a beaver lodge in Saint-Boniface-des Agréments, Québec. Arriving in the Great White North, the two friends, a blind turtle and a one-clawed crawfish, discover a world that they could never have imagined in their Louisiana home. Their travels will take them to Homardie where L’il Red will discover the roots of his deported lobster cousins, just as I did in 1975, the first time that I arrived in Acadie. -Zachary Richard
